Will O’ The Whisperer

I was born into a creative bilingual family in Aberdeen, Scotland. When I was 11 I moved to my parents’ home country of The Netherlands where I now reside. Eleven years of growing up in Scottish culture as well as 3 years of living in Cardiff gave me a passion for stories and folklore, along with a love for music and performing. I have learned to play many instruments throughout my life to accompany my singing and songwriting including piano, guitar, trumpet and ukulele. I am a born performer and have been involved in a variety of shows including National Theatre’s Peace Of Me (2013) in Den Haag, and Decibelles Debut (2019); an A Capella show that I both sang in and choreographed for the Edinburgh Fringe. I write stories based in the folklore that is so close to my heart and have a passion for telling stories with more modern themes such as sexuality and gender in a way that still evokes the feeling of fairy tales around a campfire. I have collaborated with TedxYouth at the British School in the Netherlands giving a very successful workshop on adapting fairytales for the modern age and work closely with the Dutch International Storytelling Centre.

I have taught myself the inner workings of podcasting to create my own collection of research and folk tales in “Fortunes Told: A storyteller’s look at the tarot cards” and off the back of this have created a digital album and a pack of oracle cards.
